She sunk into her seat.
Took a moment to stop.
Her red-hot heels and power-charged mind finally eased.
The quiet settled gently around her,
She soaked in the warmth.
Sun-kissed . She relaxed.
Adoring the golden stem bestowed to her.
The gift of the Solidago flower , or Goldenrod, offered good fortune and encouragement.
Its bright blossoms whispered,, ‘Good things are coming your way’.
She glowed with positivity.
Her heart felt full.
She leaned back and gazed into the bright blue suspended sky.
When a small squawk intruded her musing. A flash of Brilliant yellow fluttered before her and soft petals brushed her legs.
She was greeted by the Australian Golden-shouldered Parrot , bearing t another gift ; a sprig of Pink Limonium or Sea Lavender.
‘Take this everlasting bloom and enjoy its lasting colour , a reminder of your enduring successes.’
it dropped the tiny flower in her lap.
then squawked,
’ and remember……
the sky is not the limit,
for the sky has no limit , My Grace”

GOLDEN GRACE
Nature is the most exquisite gift of all.
Society often defines luxury through expensive possessions such as
designer bags and couture goods,
Yet I believe the natural world is the greatest luxury of all.
The small artworks of native wildflowers enclosed in luxury handbag
dust bags create a striking dichotomy.
These bags are typically used to protect luxury handbags and preserve
their pristine condition, but in my paintings, I use them to envelop
nature instead.
By wrapping wildflowers in this way, I suggest that nature is our most
precious luxury and deserves both reverence and protection.

FOENICULUM + PAEONIA
50 x 110 / oil on belgian linen
A R E Y O U O K ?
Life isn’t always rainbows and unicorns.
Some days everything fades to grey - weighty, dull and dour.
FOENICULUM + PAEONIA came from a place of compassion - a concept I sketched a few months ago.
We often hide our deepest emotions to protect ourselves.
Concealment.
We all fall on difficult times, that is the nature of life.
Some retreat behind a veil only they can see.
They shield themselves from the world.
Others meet that barrier with empathy, choosing to see past it instead of judging.
But conversation breaks down all barriers.
During World War II, the Birdcage veil rose in popularity -part necessity, part style. With fabric scarce , longer veils became more costly and the shorter length offered a practical elegance; poised even in the hard years.
The Foeniculum flower represents PROTECTION.
The Paeonia symbolises COMPASSION.
Flowers speak their own language.
LE REINE
110 x 110 / oil on canvas
Kickass heels to confidently strut through life.
Champagne, because life is too short.
Strength and Courage
Nature to keep us grounded.
Kind Words or ourselves and others.
Rest and reservation of time.
Time to just sit and be still.
Throughout history, ornately decorated chairs symbolised power, authority and status.
In 17th century France, (Rococo period / Louis XV) the ‘Fauteuil a la Reine’ was a style of armchair designed for its adaptability. Less formal than other designs, it allowed the sitter to move within various spaces to find comfort and suitability. Yet it maintained an air of savior-faire, opulence and granduer.
Modern women are busier than ever, moving from one place to another. Wonder Women! However, reserving time , for our inner-Queen is just as important as accomplishing our long to-do lists.

SUNBIRDS
120 X 120 cm oil on belgian linen
She was In The Pink. GOOD HEALTH
Femme Flourishing.
Underneath the warm rosé sky,
the Queen Of Hearts drifted in the calm and quiet.
The purest sound of silence.
Gentle plops broke her reverie.
She was surrounded by small Billy Button flowers.
Little yellow sunbursts , floated along with her.
An Australian native , Craspedia , spoke of HAPPINESS, GOOD LUCK + GOOD HEALTH
Soft sounds of tiny wings came from overhead,
The little Olive-back Sunbird, dropped another
and another.
‘ Accept my offerings.
May Happiness + Good fortune surround you.
But remember my Queen,
happiness is merely a state of mind.’
As it flew into the pink horizon ,
She smiled to herself. Sipped her champagne.
Her pink flamingo gently ferried her to the end of another beautiful day.
A Queen Of Hearts,
always follows her own. ❤️
